of Europe, Asia Minor; biotope: alpine zone; the small isolated Tatra population is declining and strongly endangered with extinction (no more than 80-90 individuals in Polish Tatras and no more than 500 individuals in the whole Tatra Mountains (Poland and Slovakia); threat: tourist pressure, predation, unfavourable climatic conditions, changes in food resources; the Tatra population proposed for including to Annexes II and IV HD (the species is in Annexes V HD and III BC);

endangered also on the global scale; range extends from the Odra River Basin to the Lena and Amur, Corea and Sachalin; the area of occurrence of the typical form is the Siberian drainage area of the Arctic Ocean) - in Poland considered glacial relic; biotope: small, often ephemeral, water bodies (stagnant water), the most typical habitat are peat-holes with Sparganietum minimi and Scorpidio-Utriculetum minoris; in Poland: Podlasie, Mazovia, Wielkopolsko-Kujawska Lowland, Pomeranian Lakeland (Gdańsk); threats: overgrowing of water bodies and drainage of swampy areas; proposed for including to Annexes II and IV HD.

Coenagrion ornatum (Selys, 1850) - łątka turzycowa - Europe and eastward, at least to
eastern Turkey and Syria; biotope: small slowly-flowing brooks, mainly in calcareous areas; treats: deterioration of biotopes (category E in Poland; CORINE); proposed for including to Annexes II and IV HD.
Nehalennia speciosa (Charpentier, 1840) - iglica mała - Europe to Asia eastwards to Japan;
biotope: mesotrophic pools with Magnocaricion vegetation; threats: lowering of groundwater table, disappearance of biotopes (category E in Poland,; CORINE); proposed for including to Annexes II and IV HD.

northern Spain and Spain across Europe to central Asia; biotope: damp meadows, marshes and grassy slopes; larvae feed on Gentiana and later on live in ants' nests; threats: land drainage and improvement (mainly south-eastern Poland, isolated population in Noteć Forest and Biebrza River Valley, threatened with extinction; CORINE); proposed for including to Annexes II and IV HD.
Scolitantides orion (Pallas, 1771) modraszek orion/chequered blue - southern Europe,
southern Fennoscandia to central Asia and Japan; biotope: rough meadows and scrub up to 1000 m, dry stony hillsides, also coastal cliffs; larvae feed on Sedum; threats: unknown (everywhere rare, threatened in Czech Rep. and Hungary; in Poland four localities in south-east - threatened with extinction; CORINE); proposed for including to Annexes II and IV HD.
Vacciniina optilete (Knoch, 1781) modraszek bagniczek/cranberry blue - central Alps and
arctic Europe to Japan; biotope: peat bogs and moorland, larvae feed on Vaccinium; threat: wetland drainage and afforestation (everywhere vulnerable; in Poland threatened with extinction; CORINE); proposed for including to Annexes II and IV HD.
Polyommatus eroides (Frivaldsky, 1835) modraszek eroides - very limited range: Poland,
Czech, Bulgaria, Greece (in Poland - four localities in Podlasie region, threatened with extinction); proposed for including to Annexes II and IV HD.

central and northern Europe, through central Asia to Korea; biotope: lowland flowery heath and grasslands, threat: afforestattion, grassland improvement; overcollecting (scattered localities in southern and eastern Poland; CORINE); proposed for including to Annexes II and IV HD.
Euphydryas (Hypodryas) maturna (Linnaeus, 1758) przeplatka maturna/scarce fritillary -
northern Europe, former USSR, temperate Asia to Korea, northern Africa; biotope: wetland areas in broadleaved forests, larvae feed on Fraxinus, Populus, Fagus, Plantago, Scabiosa, Veronica etc. threat: drainage of wetlands, afforestattion (isolated localities in southern and eastern and south-western parts of Poland, threatened with extinction; CORINE); proposed for including to Annexes II and IV HD.

Erebia pronoe (Esper, 1780) górówka pronoe (kat. E) - mountains of central and southern

Europe; biotope: confined to ancient pine forests, larvae feed on dead wood; threat: loss of ancient pine forests (in Poland very rare, known only from one certain locality; CORINE); proposed for including to Annexes II/IV HD

Leioderus kollari (Redtenbacher, 1849) - disrupted range: central and south-eastern Europe,
southern Scandinavia, France, Asia Minor, Syria; almost everywhere rare or very rare; biotope: species confined to the forest-steppe zone, natural deciduous forests with Acer, Ulmus, Quercus, Carpinus (dead wood); threat: habitat changes: destruction of ancient forests (in Poland known only from Bialowieza Forest and environs of Puławy); proposed for including to Annex II/IV HD
Pseudogaurotina excellens (Brancsik, 1874) sichrawa karpacka - Carpathian endemite;

Sphaerium solidum
(Normand, 1844) solid orb shell; mainly central and eastern Europe and
everywhere occurs locally; biotope: large rivers with sandy or sandy-muddy bottom, in main current and at banks; threat: pollution, eutrophication (one of the rarest fresh water molluscs in Poland, declining); proposed for including to Annex II/IV HD
Sphaerium rivicola (Lamarck, 1818) nut orb shell; central and eastern Europe; biotope:
all types of stagnant or sluggish water at low altitudes, preferably in muddy beds near the bank; also large and medium-sized rivers with sandy-muddy bottoms, littoral zone of lakes; threat: hydro-engineering, pollution, drainage (in Poland still common but some sites protecting its biotope should be established); proposed for including to Annex II HD


Helicidae Helicigona lapicida (Linnaeus, 1758); western and central Europe; biotope; deciduous forest
